NEW DELHI: In less than 24 hours, Home Minister Amit Shah’s claims in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday how Prime Minister Modi’s help changed the life of Kalawati of Yavatmal in Maharashtra.

The Congress on Thursday mounted a video clip on its website exposing lies of Shah and narrating how her life changed after meeting “Jannayak” Rahul Gandhi.

The video clip, which is in Marathi, she said it was because of Rahul’s help that her family’s food, education and marriages could take place. “Why Modi is saying he helped me? All bunkum lie. What kind of help? I would have praised him if he had helped me. Rahul Gandhi helped us right from the start and so I praise him.

“I got a house in 2008 and I built two rooms and a bathroom in 2013-14. Modi didn’t give us anything. We got everything with the help of the Congress,” she added.

The BJP will have to trace another Kalawati to show that Amit Shah was talking about this woman and not one denying any help from PM Modi.. In yet another videp clip, this Kalawati Bandurkar of Yavatmal says she owes it to Rahul Gandhi for removal of her poverty. “I am now satisfied. He first gave me Rs 3 lakh and then transferred Rs 30 lakh in my bank account,” she claimed. They used to live in a hut, but now they have a pucca house with electricity and water supply.

Her husband, a farmer, had committed suicide in 2005 for failing to pay back the debts. Rahul had met and consoled her. After Rahul met her, she started getting money from across the country and that is how she was able to run her family and work as a farm labourer in a cotton field. She has two sons and seven daughters and wants to get them all married
