LOWEST SINGLE DAY DEATHS OF 28 FROM COVID IN 2022

NEW DELHI: India on Thursday recorded the lowest single day Covid-19 fatalities of 28 in the year 2022 while new infections of 1225 in 24 hours ending at 8 AM were also the lowest in the year, according to the data released by the Health Ministry.

The actual fatalities in 24 hours were actually only 11 — 4 in Kerala, 2 each in Goa and Maharashtra and 1 each in Delhi, UP and Karnataka. The fatalities were reported as 28 because of 17 old deaths in Kerala taken into account, the ministry data showed.

The active covid caseload was 14,307, which was 0.03% of the total infections while the recoveries of 1,594 pushed the total recoveries to 4,24,89,004, which are 98.76% of the total cases. The total infections in the country since the start in 2020 stand at 4,30,24,440, out of which 5,21,129 of them succumbed to death.

Daily positivity rate is down to 0.20% and the weekly rate 0.23%. As many as 78.91 crore have been tested so far for the virus. The nationwide vaccination now stands at 184.06 crore, including 22.27 lakh in the past 24 hours.
