NEW DELHI: A day-long Indian Muslim intellectual meet is planned here at the Aiwan-e-Ghalib auditorium on Sunday to brainstorm on the growing hatred against the Muslim community and search for a way forward towards a saner and united response to prrvent any further tearing of the secular fabric of the country and the Constitution.

Former MP Mohd Adeeb and former Planning Commission members Syeda Syedain Hameed, told a press conference held at the Press Club of India here on Friday that more than 400 Muslim intellectuals and eminent Muslim citizens are to participate in the conference from across the country.

Adeeb said India has been in a state of permanent low-grade communal fever over recent years, in which the people rejoice over the brutality against the members of the minority communities, Muslims in particular.

He said the day-long congregation will focus on the highly communalised atmosphere where jobs have been lost, incomes reduced and the country is facing challenges on several other fronts and the low intensity violence embedded at the ground level.

“The resulting crisis is prompting increasing introspection, by liberal Indians in General and Muslims in particular, on how to deal with the situation and stem the rot. The issue has been a matter of great concern to all Constitution-loving Indian.” he said.

Adeeb said the Sunday meet will be attended by the retired judges, retired IAS and IPS officers, Armed Forces veterans, legal experts, technocrats, teachers, religious scholars, journalists and practitioner of politics and human right activists will converge to deliberate on the issue of formulating an appropriate strategy towards the resolution of the vexed problems faced by the Muslims, both in short and long term perspectives, while keeping the interests of the nation uppermost.
