“Do you see any other face?” Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra shot back this question when asked at a press conference here on Friday if she is going to the chief ministerial face in Uttar Pradesh.
She did not elaborate any further. In the past whenever she was asked this question, she had wriggled out, saying the decision will be taken when time comes. She was asked if the Congress will follow the supposed decision of contesting the Punjab elections under the collective leadership.
In reply to a question, she said she is the in-charge of Uttar Pradesh and as such she took the initiative of promoting women. Asked if this policy will be also followed in other states, her brother Rahul Gandhi ruled it out as he was quick to point out that the party does not impose on the states the initiatives taken by one of its state units like Uttar Pradesh.
