NEW DELHI: BJP could not tolerate SC “empowered” Delhi CM Kejriwal: Atishi after Centre’s ordinance on control of services in the national capital, Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi education minister Atisihi said the BJP could not tolerate that the Supreme Court “empowered” chief minister Arvind Kejriwal by ruling in favour of the Delhi Government.
She criticised an ordinance issued by the Centre to notify the rule for Delhi government regarding transfer postings, vigilance and other incidental matters to circumvent the SC judgment.
The Supreme Court order meant if the people of Delhi elect Kejriwal, the decision making powers lie with him. But the Central Government, the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi couldn’t tolerate the Supereme Court empowered CM, she said.
The BJP, however, insisted that the Centre’s ordinance as necessary to maintain Delhi’s dignity to create a National Capital Civil Services Authority for transfer and disciplinary proceedings of Group-A officers from the DANICS cadre.
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said the ordinance will protect the people’s interests. He said Delhi is the national capital and whatever happens here has an impact all over the country and the world.
“Will you (Delhi govt) resort to hooliganism and intimidation of officers, and misue power under the cover of the supreme court verdict,” he asked, adding that his party will not remain a silent spectator.
The ordinance on services for administration reaffirms Lieut. Governor V K Saxena as Delhi’s boss.
The setting up of a permanent body comes days after a Supreme Court order. The centre’s decision will yet again give back the administrative powers to the Lt Governor. “A permanent authority headed by Delhi CM is being introduced to make recommendations to the Lt Governor,” an official source said.
