NEW DELHI: Both the Houses of Parliament remained paralysed for the second day on Friday as 16 opposition parties met in the morning and stepped up their attack on the government, demanding an immediate discussion on the issue of the Adani stock rout.

Various opposition parties have demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe or a Supreme Court-monitored committee investigation into the Adani issue while also seeking a discussion on it in Parliament.

The Lok Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm and then for the day alike on Thursday due to the noisy protests while the Rajya Sabha was first shut till 2.30 pm and then for the day as the opposition accused Prime Minister Modi protecting Adani groups chairman and billionaire Gautam Adani.

In a TV interview, Adani denied his rise to become Asia’s richest person because of his association with Prime Minister Modi dismissing it as “baseless” just because both he and the PM are from the same state of Gujarat.

The fact of the matter is that my professional success is not because of any individual leader,” Adani said.
