NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the idol consecration ceremony at Ayodhya’s Ram Lalla temple in January, according to a statement issued by Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, who highlighted the ongoing development projects worth Rs 32,000 crore in the temple town to make it one of the world’s most beautiful cities.

He said when one of the key milestones, the installation of Ra Lalla in the new temple takes place after a wait of 500 years, Ayodhya’s significance on a global scale will increase. Ram Lalla is the idol of Lord Ram

“Ayodhya holds a special place in the hearts of millions of people, who have a strong sense of Lord Ram’s presence in their lives and the construction of the temple will be a manifestataion of their devotion and belief, Yogi said at a programme organised to celebrate completion of 9 years of Modi government at the Centre.

The CM has set the target of lighting 21 lakh lamps during the upcoming Diwali and calls for lighting of lamps in every household of Ayodhya, besides at Ghats, temples, Suryakund and Bharat Kund. He said this sets the stage for arrival of Lord Ram in his home the next year.

“In the past, Ayodhya city road and rail networks were poor. Ayodhya roads will resemble Delhi’s Kartavya Path in the next four to six months. Due to recent development, the journey to Ayodhya from Lucknow and Gorakhpur that took five to six hours will be completed in one hour,” Yogi added.
