NEW DELHI: Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi is speeded up the Bharat Jodo Yatra that resumes on Tuesday from Kashmir Gate in Delhi to enter Ghazhiabad in Uttar Pradesh. He plans to wind you the Yatra on January 30 by unfurling the Tricplour in Srinagar on January 30, after reaching Jammu on January 20.
The Yatra will enter Haryana on January 5 after walking for 120 km in Uttar Pradesh. It will be in Himachal Pradesh only for a day. Congress general secretary and chief spokesman Jairam Ramesh told reporters here that the Yatra resumes after a 9-day winter break from the Hanuman Temple in Kashmiri gate.
AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, will be joining the Yatra during its passage through UP. There is a speculation that Priyanka has invited her cousin and Pilibhit’s BJP MP Varun Gandhi to join the Yatra.
Rahul said all are welcome to join the Yatra including Varun Gandhi, but he does not expect Varun to join as he is in the BJP and hence may face problems. He said Varun should better speak to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge if he comes over to the Congress.
Rahul welcomed Varun’s recent remarks that he is neither against the Congress nor against late Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru. He was happy at Varun’s remarks that politics should be to unite the country instead of breaking it.
