NEW DELHI: Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday slammed the Modi government for celebrating its eighth anniversary in power, ignoring the rising violence in Jammu and Kashmir in which 18 citizens have been killed and 15 security personnel became martyrs in the past five months.

His tweet came after a Hindu Pandit school teacher, Rajni Bala, was killed by the terrorists in Kulgam in Kashmir on Tuesday. He said the Kashmir Pandits are on Dharna for the past 18 days, but the ruling BJP is busy celebrating eight years in power.

Rahul told the Prime Minister that “this is no film, but today’s truth of Kashmir.” His obvious reference was to a Hindi movie “The Kashmir Files” commended by Modi and many BJP governments exempting it from the entertainment tax.
