NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has delivered a significant verdict on the ‘SIT’ established by the Andhra Pradesh (AP) government to probe the Amaravati land scam and corruption in large-scale projects.

The apex court has dismissed the High Court’s interim order that had stayed the SIT. A bench consisting of Justice M.R. Shah and Justice CT Ravikumar has directed the High Court to hear the case on its merits and issue a final judgment.

During the proceedings, the Supreme Court made noteworthy observations and questioned whether it was reasonable to halt the investigation at the initial stage. It was revealed that the High Court had previously intervened in the matter, which led to the dismissal of the interim orders.

The AP government had constituted the ‘SIT’ to examine the policy decisions of the previous government, which was challenged by Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders Varla Ramaiah, Alapati Raja, and others in the AP High Court. Consequently, the High Court had stayed the SIT. However, the AP government challenged the High Court’s decision in the Supreme Court, leading to the recent verdict.
