NEW DELHI: Congress President Sonia Gandhi (75), who was hospitalised on June 12 in the private Sir Gangaram Hospital here, the favourite hospital of the Gandhis,  is currently being treated for a fungal infection in her lower respiratory tract, along with other post-Covid symptoms, according to a statement issued by Jairam Ramesh, the new chief spokesman of Congress and a general secretary.

“She continues to be under close observation and treatment,” he said.

Sonia was rushed to the hospital on June 12 on developing profuse bleeding from the nose following recent Covid-19 infections. She underwent a related follow-up procedure Thursday morning.

Her son and former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has secured a nod from the Enforcement Directorate to shift his fourth day of interrogations in the National Herald case from Friday to the next Monday to enable him to attend Sonia Gandhi.
