NEW DELHI: Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday tweeted that Prime Minister Modi will have to retract “Agnipath” by becoming “Mafiveer” heeding to the pressure of the agitating youth across the country refusing to be the “Agniveers” alike the withdrawal of the black farm laws after a year of pressure of the farmers.
He said the BJP government of Modi has been continuously insulting teh values of Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan for the past eight years.
His sister and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra released a letter to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on March 29, 2020, urging a solution to the recruitment of the soldiers and tweeted to understand the pain of the rural youth preparing to join the Armed Forces, without any recruitment for the past three years. They have suffered blisters on feet, keep running to remain fit for the recruitment.
The youth have been put in a permanent wait for the appointments in the Indian Air Force after undegoing the tests, the result of which have ben kept in abeyance, she said.
She said the Modi government has snatched away hopes from them denying them regular recruitment, rank, pension and held-up recruitments.
