WHY CRUEL JOKE WITH YOUTH IN ARMY RECRUITMENT, ASKS CONG

NEW DELHI: The Congress on Thursday slammed the “agnipath” brainwave of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a cruel joke with the youth on the short recruitment in the Armed Forces and weakening India’s defence on the borders.

In a tweet, Rahul said neither rank, nor pension in Modi’s scheme announced early this week after no direct recruitments for the past two years. “No definite future after four years for those joining the scheme. This is also the government’s disrespect to the forces,” he said.

He appealed to the Prime Minister to listen to the voice of the jobless youth of the country. “Don’t take ‘agnipariksha’ (trial by fire) of the youth’s patience by making them walk on his “Agnipath.”

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi wondered what the “Agnipath” will give to the youth preparing for recruitment in the Armed Forces who join them with dreams of serving the nation, serving the family and look for a bright future.

“After 4 years, neither a guarantee of employment, nor the facility of pension = No rank, no pension,” she said urging Prime Minister Modi not to crush the dreams of these youth.

In yet another tweet, the Congress warned the “dictator” BJP that it will not allow any mischief with India’s Armed Forces in the garb of this “Agnipath.”
