NEW DELHI: The Election Commission on Wednesday announced the first three states’ Assembly elections in February — on February 16 in Tripura and on February 27 in the northeast states of Meghalaya and Nagaland. Each state Assembly has 60 seats each and the date of counting in all three states is on March 2.
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced the schedule of the three states’ elections, declaring the gazette notification for Tripura on January 21 and that for Meghalaya and Nagaland on January 31.
In Tripura January 30 is the last date for filing nominations, scrutiny on January 31 and the last date for withdrawals is February 2. In Meghalaya and Nagaland, the last date for nominations is February 7, scrutiny on February 8 and last date for withdrawals February 10. Elections in all three states are to be completed by March 4.
