NEW DELHI: Congress general secretary and chief spokesman Jairam Ramesh had a dig on the BJP leaders getting upset on a symbolic burning of a knicker on a Twitter post, wondering over their ingenuity to see it as the RSS shorts being burnt in a cartoon.
Asserting that burning of an effigy is a democratic right, he tweeted that those talk of “Congress-Mukt Bharat” (India free of Congress) should not be infuriated by the symbolic burning.
“Why are they asking us to reply. The answer must come from those who killed Gandhi? Who support Gandhi killer Godse and hail him as their “adarsh” (ideal)? Rather, those who are breaking the country ought to answer,” Jairam said.
The reality is that those who had opposed “Quit India movement” (Bharat Chhodo Andolan) are today jealous of the success of #BharatJodoAndolan because if India is united from it, their shop of hatred will be shut, Jairam added.
