CWC IN DELHI ON MONDAY

NEW DELHI: The Congress Working Committee (CWC), the top decision-making body of the Congress, is meeting here on Monday to deliberate on the current political situation and caste census and firm up the strategy for the upcoming Assembly elections in five states.

The party is seeking to retain power in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh and wrest power from the BJP in Madhya Pradesh, from BRS in Telangana and the Mizo National Front (MNF) in Mizoram.

The chief ministers of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh will also attend the meeting. The new CWC was constituted by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, retaining the old guards and giving space to the young h the 84-member committee.

The first CWC meeting was held in Hyderabad on September 16 while this will be the first meeting in the national capital. It has 39 regular members, 32 permanent invitees and 13 special invitees.

The meeting will discuss the caste census on which the party has made a strong pitch and it has raised the demand for giving rights on the basis of population, with stree on the other backward classes (OBCs).

It is likely to condemn the action by the probing agencies like CBI, ED and IT n the members of INDIA bloc, including the recent cases against AAP leader Sanjay Singh and TMC and DMK leaders.
