NEW DELHI: Rajya Sabha Opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday asserted that the Congress and the other two allies in the Aghadi government will fight the BJP and the Modi Government to fail their attempt to destabilise the Maharashtra Government.

He told the media at his residence here that the Centre is intervening to destabilise the stable government of Aghadi to capture power in the Centre and amass numbers in the July 18 Pesidential elections. He said the Congress will provide all help in strengthening the Maha Aghadi government.

Kharge said the BJP is trying the same tactics that it adopted to capture the state governments in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh,Goa, Manipur and Uttarakhand.

Asked if he is confident of survival of the Aghadi government, he said it’s an internal matter of the Shiv Sena while the Congress and the NCP are strongly supporting the government and he is confident that the rebel Shiv Sena MLAs will soon return to Maharashtra and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will be able to resolve their grievances soon.

Kharge refused to comment on a statement by Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Thursday, saying he need not comment on everything. He can only point out that the Chief Minister has kept his doors open to let the Sena rebels air their grievances.

In reply to a question, he affirmed that “my party is going to stand with Maha Vikas Aghadi and we want to work together for development of Maharashtra, the purpose for which the three parties came together. He stressed that the BJP will fail in its nefarious attempts to bring down the Aghadi government.
