SC PROTECTION TO ACTRESS POONAM PANDEY IN KUNDRA’S PORN FILMS RACKET

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notice to the Maharashtra Government and granted protection from the coercive action or arrest to actress Poonam Shobhanath Pandey until the next hearing on March 4 in the porn video films racket run by actress Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra. A Bench of Justice Vineet Saran and B V Nagarathna issued notice on an appeal filed by Poonam against a Bombay High Court order on November 25 rejecting her anticipatory bail application. She has been arrayed as an accused in an FIR alongwith actor Sherlyn Chopra. Kundra has also secured protection from arrest from the top court in the case registered against him for allegedly distributing the prnographic videos, after a sessions court and Bombay High Court refused to grant him relief. He was booked under certain Sections of the Indian Penal Code, Indecent Representation of Women (Prevention) Act and Information Technology Act, for allegedly distributing/ transmitting sexually explicit videos. ###
