NEW DELHI: Congress general secretary and chief spokesman Jairam Ramesh on Wednesday tweeted that “Delhi Police is blocking the road to AICC headquarters hs become a norm rather than an exception. Why have they just done so is mysterious…”
The portion of the Akbar Road in front of the main entrance gate of the AICC HQ was blocked earlier when Police wanted to prevent the march of the Congress leaders and workers assembling there to protest during the interrogation of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi by the Enforcement Directorate in the National Herald’s alleged money laundering case.
The current blockade preventing the Congress leaders to assemble in the AICC HQ is attributed to a nationwide protest on Friday against the rising prices and unemployment. The party has, however, planned not to start a march from the AICC HQ on Friday, but one by the Congress MPs from the Parliament House to the Rashtrapati Bhawan and the Prime Minister’s House.
There are two other entrances to the AICC HQ from the backdoor of Sonia Gandhi’s residence and another from the AICC servant quarters on the back of the premises. Even those entrances have been blocked
