CONG ASKS BJP CHIEF TO APOLOGISE, URGES SPOKESPERSONS’ ARREST

NEW DELHI: The Congress on Monday sought the arrest of the anti-social elements in the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as its spokespersons for making India ashamed at the international level with the disparaging remarks on the Prophet.

“Why should the nation apologise for the BJP spokespersons’ bloomer. It’s time for the BJP President to apologise,” the Congress said, asserting that these anti-social elements of the BJP are pushing India into hatred and defaming the nation at the international level.

Former Congress President Rahul, who returned to India on Sunday from a short foreign trip, too contributed to the controversy, saying “divided internally, India becomes weak externally.” He said: “BJP’s shameful bigotry has not only isolated us, but also damaged India’s standing globally.”

A Congress tweet said such anti-national antisocial elements should be behind the bars immediately, asserting that suspension of spokesperson Nupur Sharma is only a drama and an eyewash and so is expulsion of another spokesperson Naveen Jindal from the party. It asked the Indians to understand the BJP’s action as an attempt only to protect the image of the Prime Minister, under whose command the hatred is being spread in the country. They should wake up to see that the BJP is defaming India.

Understand the BJP’s strategy. First, instigate your people to spread hate and then to save face, take action against them under international pressure to pretend to be good, the Congress said, reacting to the suspension of Nupur by the Central Disciplinary Committee. The people now understand this shameless game of the BJP. Has Nupur belonged to any other party, she would have been dumped in jail under the sedition law since she has hurt the friendly countries.

“The BJP might show itself making amends by suspending its spokespersons from the party, but whom are they fooling? For something as serious as defaming the country on a global platform, why no arrests,” the Congress asked.

“Those throwing the nation into the fire of hatred should be ashamed. Hate, fear and divisiveness is BJP’s India. Their resolve: Bharat Todo. Our resolve: Bharat Jodo. The difference is crystal clear,” the Congress tweeted, noting that the party is set to organising padyatra across the country from October 2 to unite India and fight those trying to break, disintegrate it.

“With their hate-mongering propagandist politics, BJP hasn’t just shamed the country but put the nation into embarrassment which once stood for peace and harmony on trial for the whole world to see,” the Congress said.

It said it is an embarrassing first that because of BJP’s hate-spreading spokespersons, countries like Iran, Kuwait, Qatar have questioned India for the first time as they summoned Indian envoy over comments against the Prophet and more shocking is the Indian envoy calling the ruling BJP’s spokespersons as “fringe elements” and “anti-socials” and that the Modi government has nothing to do with their controversial remarks on the Prophet.

What is the BJP trying to make the ladn of Gandhi and Buddha, Congress asked.

In another tweet, it said all Indians hold their heads in shame as garbage boxes in Kuwait are printed with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his state-sponsored atrocities on Indian Muslims and derobatory remarks by his party members against Prophet Muhammad.
