SC NOT TO HEAR CRIMINAL CASES DURING SUMMER VACATION

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has decided, on the administrative side, not to hear the criminal petitions to quash FIRs and charge-sheets during its 7-week summer vacation beginning the next week.

It conveyed this decision on Wednesday to the Telangana High Court Registrar General while hearing a petition filed under Article 32 of the Constitution to quash FIR No 59 of 2022 registered with Police Station Tow-I, Nizamabad.

Senior advocate V Chitambaresh, appearing for the petitioners, submitted that the High Court had stated in a notice on April 30 under the caption “Instructions as to filing of cases to be heard during summer vacation of HC on May 5. Submitting that the petitioners cannot go before the High Court’s vacation bench, and so the instant petition under Article 32 is the only appropriate remedy available, he said.
